Are You Struggling To Quiet The Mental Noise In Your Head?

Has anxiety begun to spiral out of control and affect your quality of life? Do you often find yourself:

  • Overthinking all your interactions and seeking reassurance from others?
  • Suffering from fatigue and an inability to relax or get a good night’s sleep?
  • Having a hard time focusing, staying productive, and getting things done?

Maybe you feel like you’re carrying an enormous mental load at all times. Your brain seems to have no “off” switch—your thoughts are racing from the moment you wake till the moment you fall asleep. Perhaps you’ve tried numerous strategies to calm your anxiety in the past, but your symptoms seemed too powerful to control. As a result, maybe you’re thinking it’s time to see a specialist who knows how to properly treat anxiety disorders.

Anxiety Can Limit Your Functioning And Lead To Increased Loneliness

A little anxiety isn’t necessarily a bad thing, since it can motivate you to perform well and level up in your life and career. But when anxiety becomes too powerful for its own good, it can quickly lead to burnout, avoidance, distraction, and health problems.

You might find yourself passing up new career opportunities and turning down social events because of how anxious you are. Perhaps you suffer from decision paralysis—you feel so overwhelmed by your range of choices that you end up withdrawing and making no choice at all.

Eventually, this kind of life can become deeply lonely, causing relationships to fall by the wayside and creating a deep sense of regret. The good news is that with the right treatment and support, anxiety is highly manageable. Here at Skypiatrist, our team of specialists is trained and equipped to treat anxiety in all its forms, using a mix of medication management and therapy to help clients live more confident and empowered lives.

Anxiety Is The Natural Result Of Our “Always-On” Culture

In America today, high achievement is the name of the game. We’re encouraged to work long hours, be productive at all times, and maintain carefully-curated lives through social media. Between Slack, email, text, and other forms of telecommunication, it’s nearly impossible for us to have any true “off” time. We’re expected to be on call 24/7 and run on little sleep, and for those who face economic uncertainty, overwork often feels like the only choice.

Naturally, all of these factors create a breeding ground for chronic anxiety. Roughly 20 percent of Americans suffer from an anxiety disorder, and with how many cases are undiagnosed, the actual number is probably much higher.

Simply put, anxiety is an epidemic in our country, and it’s a huge reason why more and more people are seeking treatment to help them manage their stress.

Many People Don’t Recognize The Signs Of Anxiety

It isn’t always easy to identify the symptoms of anxiety, especially when the symptoms are physical, such as GI problems, poor sleep, and various aches and pains. As a result, many people with anxiety seek medical treatment without realizing that their struggles are, at root, a mental health issue.

Additionally, because we live in such a workaholic culture, many people don’t believe that anxiety is worth seeking help for. For a huge portion of the working world—anxiety is like caffeine, an essential ingredient of being a hardworking and successful professional. People often say that it helps them be productive and pushes them to achieve more.

While it’s true that anxiety is a useful coping mechanism for getting through difficult times, this ceases to be the case when anxiety becomes chronic. At that point, it becomes counter-productive and starts interfering with your ability to enjoy life, robbing you of your capacity to be present in the moment and find meaning in the little things.

Treatment Can Help You Manage Anxiety More Effectively In Daily Life

Many of our clients tell us that they’re afraid to let go of anxiety completely, since it helps them stay motivated and get things done. Here at Skypiatrist, our mission is not to get rid of anxiety, but to help you manage it in a way that doesn’t negatively affect your life. We’re here to teach you how to:

  • Quiet the mental noise
  • Improve your sleep
  • Focus more easily
  • Increase your energy level
  • Reduce your overthinking
  • Feel more present in your life

We have both psychiatrists and therapists on staff, ensuring that we meet both your needs for emotional and physical wellbeing. Through a combination of medication management and evidence-based therapy, we’re confident that we can help you get control of your symptoms and address the deeper emotional challenges that are fueling your anxiety disorder.

What To Expect In Anxiety Treatment Sessions

In the beginning, you and your psychiatrist will focus on getting to know each other and going over your history with anxiety. Then you’ll come up with a plan for managing your symptoms, increasing your confidence, and getting back to optimal functioning. Your prescriber will start you on a low dose of anxiety medication and then gradually transition to higher doses over time.

Our psychiatrists and counselors can adjust your treatment plan depending on the nature and subtype of your anxiety disorder, as we’re able to treat:

  • Generalized anxiety disorder
  • Social anxiety disorder
  • Panic disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Agoraphobia (and other phobias)
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder

In the end, you are welcome to choose treatment through medication management alone, or through a combination of medication management and therapy. It all depends on what works best for you, as treatment with us is always highly personalized. Our mission is to help you feel clearer, calmer, and more in control, empowering you to thrive on your own terms instead of living in service to your anxiety.

You May Have Some Questions About Anxiety Treatment…

Anxiety treatment is meant to protect your edge, not dull it. With the right approach, most clients find that they’re more focused, productive, and consistent—able to perform at a high level without the constant mental strain. The goal isn’t to take away your drive, but to help you use it more efficiently.

Not necessarily. Some people benefit from longer-term medication, while others use it for a period of time and then adjust or taper their meds (with their psychiatrist’s guidance) once things are stable. Your psychiatrist will work with you to assess your needs and alter your medication plan as appropriate.

In the meantime, therapy can make the work of tapering or lowering your dose much easier, giving you the emotional and behavioral support you need to thrive without meds.

While some medications used for anxiety can be habit-forming, most first-line treatments are not addictive. Care typically focuses on non-addictive options. In certain situations, short-term or occasional use of more potent medications may be appropriate, but this is always done thoughtfully and with close medical guidance.
